I was a CM3 with 62 in 1970 at Hill 55. I've lost contact with everyone I served with over the years. Just last week I visited Gulfport...compared to late 1969 and 70 it looks like Disney World. All the fine brick quarters for enlisted - they look like a Fairfield Inn with all the separate doors. A fancy movie theater, nice gift store, golf course, family housing and on and on. It looked a lot like I'd made the wrong turn and ended up at Keesler AFB on down the road. Spoke to lady at Gift Shop, was told Frank Newcomb had passed, but John Paul Jones was still keeping on in his 80's. Been a long time...glad for the experience, but not the conflict.

Hello to all 62ers. This has been a long time. Since I looked into the Battalion. I served on board 62 from 75-78. Primarily starting on Diego Garcia Alpha CO. I was assigned to Chief Ajoc on the POL job on Diego. Then we transfered to Gulfport, MS. Then To Guam. That is where I left the Battalion in July of 78. You all take care. When I served with 62 that was the best time of my life. I wish I never mustered out. May God be with you all. EO3 Vermilye
